Proposed Online Art show on 20th November 2020
We are proud to announce that the Bimal Roy Memorial Society and Da Frame is holding a joint online art event and sale titled TAPESTRY OF MOVING IMAGES.
The show is a long overdue homage to India’s iconic film maker Bimal Roy who set the pioneering trend of progressive cinema in India. The forthcoming show will project works of acclaimed artists from across India.
For those who are unfamiliar with the work of Bimal Roy Memorial, allow us to share that for over a quarter century the organisation has been engaged in holding a mirror to the rich cultural heritage of Indian Art & Culture with a special focus on senior, and forgotten artists, musicians, filmmakers and painters. Their annual awards honour them at a glittering public platform. The 2020 event of Bimal Roy memorial honoured brilliant cinematographer A.K. Bir, composer Anandji bhai, senior film historian Sanjit Narwekar, emerging film maker Amit Sharma for Badhai Ho and filmmaker Geetanjali Rao for Bombay Rose.
And participating in our group show held at the Jehangir Gallery sometime in the 1990s were eminent painters like Vrindavan Solanki, Sakti Burman, Lalita Lajmi, Fatima Ahmed, Anand Mohan Naik, and several others.A time has come to repeat the Group Art show. This time, the on line. participating painters will lend support to preserve /restore the legacy of Bimal Roy’s cinematic classics. from vanishing before our incredulous eyes. We need all of you to visitt the show and enjoy the visual treat. that unfolds as a mark of respect to the iconic filmmaker Bimal Roy.
